Ted Bundy: The maniac serial killer. Very photogenic.
The thing that make this guy so interesting is not the fact he kill'd 36 women (some people think he could killed more than one houndred women), neither is that he was a lawyer, the very interesting thing is how he avoided the law for more than ten years.
In the age of 27 he raped and killed his first victim. An eighteen years old woman was murdered by Ted in 1974, but it was just the start. He didn't stop killing till 1975 when the police stopped him to check his enrollment, he tried to scape, but he was captured.
On June 30, 1976 was sentenced to a sentence of 15 years in prison with parole.
Police in Colorado denounced the murder charges October 22, 1976. In April 1977 he was transferred to Garfield County Jail.
In his second trial, Bundy was surprised to dismiss his lawyers, he decided to defend himself. For that reason he was allowed to visit the Library of the Court of Aspen. He jumped from the library window, injuring his ankle. Still, eluded police for 6 days and survived by stealing and sleeping in an abandoned trailer. The police caught him when he tried to steal another Volkswagen with the keys.
He escaped again to climb the roof of one of the stations of the prison, from which to access other slope leading into the closet of an empty apartment of the prison. He waited until there was no one around and walked out the front door of a department of correctional officers. Until the next morning, after 15 hours, did not realize his disappearance. This time he fled to Chicago and Florida using the alias Chris Hagen.
On January 14, 1977 the building of Chi Omega fraternity Nita Neary was half empty when he returned at dawn. He was surprised that the door was open and went into hiding. Leave the building saw a man with a blue cap and wrapped in a cloth folder. Believing he had assaulted the fraternity was looking for his partner Karen Chandler, which was found staggering down the aisle seriously injured. Kathy Kleiner was found alive but badly injured in her room.Police found the body of Lisa Levy, which had been hit in the head, and brutally raped. He was also Margaret Bowman's body, strangled in his sleep with a head injury that destroyed his skull. The rest of the girls were unable to provide more clues except the testimony of Nita Neary.Not far away, Bundy attacked Cheryl Thomas who survived a brutal beating. His skull was fractured in five places, broken jaw and a dislocated shoulder. She suffered permanent hearing loss with balance problems. At the crime scene evidence was found the body, such as hair and blood, the author.On February 9, 1978 kidnapped Kimberly Leach, 12, in Lake City. Her friend Priscilla told police he had seen riding a white van with a man who could not provide more data. Eight weeks later he found himself in Florida, the body of Kimberly.After the murder of Leach, Bundy for some reason returned to his apartment in Tallahassee, apparently got rid of the white van and was almost arrested while trying to steal another vehicle. He escaped when the officer left him alone while he checked the plates of the stolen car. Returning to his apartment cleaned the place of fingerprints, stole a VW and finally left Tallahassee. After a few run-ins with the hotel staff about their credit cards (they were stolen and had been reported), Bundy ended in Pensacola, Florida, where the stolen car plates were recognized by a patrol officer who stopped him after a short chase and a brief struggle he was arrested again.
He was sentenced to the electric chair.
